Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC)
Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002

SMC is not a "Scottish Public Authority" for the purposes of Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 and, thus is not subject to the terms of that Act. The 14 Scottish NHS Boards who form the Consortium are the public authorities listed in the Act. However, the SMC acknowledges the benefits of fostering greater transparency in carrying out its functions and, to that end, has adopted a culture of openness, wherever possible in its dealing with information and wishes to act within the spirit of the legislation by providing a response to information requests.
